Regardless of how you feel about life right now, know that life is meant to be easy and free flowing just like a river, and that it is possible to make life easier starting from NOW.
Life CAN be easy, free flowing and smooth where you start to enjoy every bit of your life and live a life you love waking up to.
But let me be clear- you NEED to do the work, and more importantly, you NEED to do the INNER WORK as well as OUTER.
I honestly love to live this life, and there are moments in my days where I just love to bask in the feeling of gratitude and love for being alive, and I simply love it.
I could do this life all over again if I had to even with all the hardships, failure, loss and heartbreak.
If at the end of my life someone asked me if I would want to live it again. I would say, “Yes, I would want to”. And so, I want to live my life in such a way that I could say this with certaincy at the end of my life.
Anyway, this isn’t about me, but about how you can make your life easier.
There could be a whole lot of list, but here are the most essential ways to make your life easy and happy. Make sure to read all.
Essential ways to make your life easier
1. Grow your determination
There are no easy hacks to make your life easier, and you shouldn’t keep looking for a shortcut.
At some point you have to realise that nothing can help you change your life, make your life easier or better but your own determination.
Start by challenging your ‘Old Self’ in little ways. Determine to build new habits. Determine to stop complaining. Determine to reach goals. Determine to turn your life around.
Once you really make the determination, anything is possible.
2. Allow yourself to Live slow to make life easy
Life is hard because we are always rushing, and moving from one thing to the next.
We humans, we don’t know how to live slow. And hence we don’t know how to truly enjoy life.
Allow yourself to live slow. Notice the pace of your movements as you walk through the subway or metro station, and slow down.
Notice the pace of your speech, and slow down.
Pause and make space in your day to feel happy and enjoy.
Enjoy slow moments with things that you already do. Drink your tea slowly. Cook your food with love. Brush your teeth smiling. Take a warm bath without rushing, or go for a walk in your natural pace.
Do these little things slowly one at a time, without rushing, being present, and feeling calm, and you will make your life so much easy.
Here are some posts that will inspire you to live slowly:
3. Learn to trust
I know the standard that most of us have been taught by elders is to ‘not trust people easily’
Maybe your own situations and experiences have led you to hurt and pain making you feel that you shouldn’t trust people or worse, can’t trust people out of fear that they might leave you.
And maybe doubt has become a way to shield yourself from getting hurt, but going about life without trust is JUST hard.
I have experienced this, and I see people who make their life hard because there is so much doubt in them regarding the intentions of others.
No matter what the reason, lack of trust brings in overthinking and stress.
Constantly doubting whether another person is on your side or another makes life unnecessarily hard and won’t ever let you build true connections.
If at all they break your trust, let it be in them and not you. Don’t let doubt corrupt YOUR heart.
4. Learn to accept things as they are
Constantly wishing things were different than how they are makes life hard. If you want to start making your life easy, you need to get rid of this habit and learn to accept things just as they are.
You can recognise this habit in your complains and in how you speak to yourself and others.
If there is something you can change then change, otherwise pray to accept things as they are.
It will let you move through your life gracefully.
5. Stop complaining
Challenge yourself to not complain for week. Try this simple exercise-
Wear a band on your wrist. Every time you complain, move it to the other wrist.
Take it one day at a time. If you’ve never tried being aware of how much you complain in a day, you will find yourself slipping a lot of times, but don’t be disheartened.
Instead take it as progress, and the moment you find yourself complaining, stop it and smile to yourself.
6. Make your bed every morning
This is a simple exercise, but making your bed every morning and keeping your bed tidy uplifts your mood and actually helps you make your life easy and can be a great starting point of building simple good habits.
7. Check your self talk
How do you speak to yourself? What are the things you are stressing about? What are the things that are making your life difficult?
In what ways are you talking about life?
Pause to reflect about it and then consider checking in on your self talk.
Is it necessary? Is it worth it?
Does your self talk about any of those things that are bothering you change anything?
Know that nothing uplifts and nothing destructs like self talk. How you speak to yourself about yourself and about different things to yourself tells a lot about your long held beliefs and perceptions.
Be mindful of your self talk and change the narrative of things.
8. Build a little self discipline
You might think discipline is going to restrict you from fun and freedom, but true freedom can only be experienced with discipline.
Moving through life without the least amount of discipline, being impulsive and getting swayed with each and every temptation makes life difficult and won’t ever let you achieve anything of significance.
Start with small simple things. Here are only 3 ways to build self discipline.
9. Find facts before assuming
Our mind loves to create stories based on assumptions and not only that, our mind then even starts to believe these stories for facts.
And this is what makes life difficult- believing that our negative scenarios WILL or MIGHT come true leading to anxiety and stress.
The only way to deal with this is whenever your mind tries to build negative scenarios in your head is to pause, notice and ask yourself if it is based on facts or just an assumption.
Stop making life unnecessarily difficult by stressing over things that haven’t even come true based on your assumptions.
10. Set weekly goals
Goal setting is crucial if you want your life to move in the direction you want to go. Stop being directionless and start setting goals
Most of make big mistakes in goal setting. A good way to start is by setting weekly goals.
Here is a post on how to set weekly goals + weekly goals ideas
11. Set healthy boundaries
Setting healthy boundaries makes life easy. Be firm on your needs, your mental and physical health, your happiness, your values and what you can offer to the world with open heartedness.
Anything that your heart doesn’t jump in excitement or is happy to do, you must consider setting boundaries.
Don’t let anyone else think tell you who you are or feel guilty about setting your boundaries. You have that right.
12. Start journaling
Cultivate the habit of journaling and you will see yourself become your own best friend. Pouring your thoughts on paper is freeing.
Here is how to start journaling with journal prompts.
13. Don’t take your mind so personally
Stop taking your mind so personally. Whenever it starts thinking anxious thoughts or negative thoughts about yourself or about others, just notice those thoughts that pass by.
No need to take them for facts or take them so personally. Doing this has made my life easier and has freed me from anxiety.
14. Don’t take anything personally
Also, don’t take anything personally. I know it’s easy to say, but practice not taking anything personally.
If you’re not going to remember it in one month or one year or 10 years down the line, then its just not worth it.
15. Forgive
Not forgiving people and holding grudges against them makes life difficult for you. It might feel that your anger or hurt is justified, but it does nothing good to you.
Let only love enter in your heart. If there is hurt, anger and pain inside you, smile to them and pray that you may be able to forgive.
It’s hard to forgive people who hurt you, but put your intention out there and it will make life easy for you.
16. Create a morning routine
Creating a morning routine changed my life. How you start your day has an impact on how you move through your day and with what kind of energy.
Every morning start your day on a good note, and stop checking your phone first thing in the morning. Quit these toxic morning habits.
Here is my morning routine, and here are 10 ways to make your morning routine stick.
17. Consume good things
Consume good things for your body and your mind. In this growing digital age with growing consumption of media, be mindful about what you are consuming.
Consume healthy food for your body and healthy media. Read good books, follow people on social media who align with who you want to be.
Watch youtube videos that add to your knowledge and teach you think you don’t know. Follow blogs that inspire you and teach you to lead healthy lives.
All of this matters in trying to live a life that is easy and happy.
18. Learn to say No
Helping another person is actually an opportunity for us to do good, but it doesn’t mean that you should say yes to each and everything.
We cannot give from an empty plate. Learning to say no is a way to set healthy boundaries for yourself.
If by saying yes, you might be mad at yourself later or stress about it, then learn to say no. This way you are respecting not only yourself, but also not allowing bad feelings to enter in your heart for the other person.
Here is a post on what I gained and lost by learning to say No
19. Allow yourself to make mistakes
Being hard on ourselves makes life difficult. Half of the problems we face in our life wouldn’t even arise if we were kind to ourself.
Learning things, learning lessons take time so be patient with yourself and allow yourself to make mistakes.
If you’re starting something new and aren’t allowing yourself to make mistakes, then you aren’t allowing yourself to be a beginner.
Only when you allow yourself to make mistakes, can you practice better and more freely.
20. Follow a daily routine
Following a daily routine makes life so much easy. And its not so difficult to make one and stick to one.
Here is my easy guide on how to follow a daily routine that sticks.
21. Use money wisely
Money problems make life difficult. If you have debts to pay then have a plan to repay your debt and set a target.
Make your budget and stick to it weekly. Always spend money from what is left after saving it, not save money from what is left after spending it.
Save first, spend later. Learning how to use money wisely is essential to make life easier for yourself and your family.
22. Declutter and organise
If you have accumulated too many things in your bedroom, living room and in your life, and haven’t given up on things in the longest time, it might be the reason why life seems harder than it actually is.
Too much clutter creates mental tension without you even realising it. Take out some time in your week, probably a Sunday, to declutter your room one by one.
After decluttering, organise your room and whatever area of your life that needs organisation.

23. Let go of the need to gossip
Gossip is the need of the ego to be entertained. It does nothing but fill the mind with information about others you don’t need and adds to mental clutter.
Let go of the need to gossip and see how lighter you feel and how you change your life.
24. Let go of people whom you don’t connect
Let go of people whom you don’t connect from heart. If you don’t vibe with someone, don’t try to force the connection or feel guilty about it. Just know that your energies don’t match.
Don’t have any negative feelings towards them, but let them go if they want to. Listen to your heart. Your heart immediately feels at home with people who are meant for you, and you’ll know who they are.
25. Sleep early
Going to bed early and waking up early has had a major impact in improving my life. It was the biggest thing I did for myself for my self improvement.
Without going to bed early and waking up early I would’ve never been eager to develop good habits or stick with them.
26. Check social media once a day
Limiting social media intake can make life so much easier. We don’t know how much clutter social media consumption adds in our head until we don’t use it for sometime.
The mind feels lighter and less stressed out. If you want to make life easier try challenging yourself to check social media only at a specific time, instead of checking it in every free minute of your day.

27. Meditate and pray
The reason why our life feels so hard is because there is constant inner and outer chatter which we never realise there is. Just sitting down for some while, even for 5 minutes with eyes closed is soothing for the mind and body.
And when you sit down with eyes closed and hands held together to pray, there is something so reassuring, calming that it immediately boosts the spirit when you pray from the heart.
Make it a daily habit to meditate for 5 minutes everyday and pray for at least 5 minutes after.
It takes time, but try to build.
Final thoughts: How to make life easy
These are all the habits and ways that have made my life simple and easy. It might seem like a lot of work, but most of it simply requires a change of perspective and a little bit of awareness and self control.
Lastly, I would say, stop focusing on the hard aspects of life. Stop talking about how hard life is or what is not going right in your life.
Instead start taking action and you will see life is actually so easy.
Our old habit patterns are just used to making life difficult for us because we are conditioned to think that way.
Break free from the past patterns and you will make your life so much easier. This is also how you stop feeling stuck and move forward in life despite the challenges.
