Currently, the Tik Tok trend ‘The lucky girl syndrome’ is everywhere. Girls are saying they are manifesting their dream lives with the lucky girl syndrome.
But is it possible? Isn’t the word ‘lucky’ actually demeaning for what someone accomplishes?
Most of us hate being called ‘lucky’ because when we achieve something, we don’t want someone else to give credit for it, saying it was just luck, but actually give credit for our hard work and the effort we put into it.
So let me get clear beforehand, Lucky Girl Syndrome does not in any way demean your efforts or does not in any way mean that what you achieve is simply only just luck.
Lucky girl simply means making yourself lucky by believing you are lucky.
Table of Contents
It is creating your own luck first by believing in yourself, believing you are capable and believing everything is always working out for you just as you hope for.
And isn’t that the first step in achieving anything in life?
- If you don’t believe you can finish college, will you even apply for it?
- If you don’t believe you can start an online business, will you even care to start?
- If you don’t believe you can be debt free, will you ever work on being completely debt free?
The answer is no.
If you believe it is impossible, it will always be impossible.
But if you believe it is possible, you will then start to work for it and things will start turning in your favour.
I too am a firm believer in all things manifesting, so I thought of writing this post in order to better explain it to you.
So what is the lucky girl syndrome?
Lucky girl syndrome is simply a positive way of thinking and believing that you are lucky and that the Universe always has your back.
It is reprogramming our mind into having a positive mindset and elevating our life state into a joyful one in order to create, attract, and work for good things.
It is the belief that we will have them and can have them all.
Before I get further into the lucky girl syndrome and how we can have it and practice it, I want you to also know about the ‘Unlucky Girl syndrome’
Believe it or not, we are all practising either the lucky girl syndrome or the unlucky girl syndrome in our lives.
For most of us, we are living the ‘unlucky girl syndrome’ where we don’t keep a check on our self-talk and don’t care to change our mindset and our beliefs.
We are always complaining,
- “Things never work out for me”
- “Life is so unkind to me”
- “My relationships are always toxic”
- “I always fall in love with the bad guys”
- “Getting a job is too hard”
- “I never have any luck”
- “I don’t think this will work out”
And these are all examples of the unlucky girl syndrome which we are currently doing.
This is also extremely easy for us to practice. We simply have to be unaware with our thoughts, words and actions.
But,
How do we get the lucky girl syndrome?

Here are some ways to get the lucky girl syndrome:
1. Start living with awareness and mindfulness
Be aware of your self-talk and your beliefs. If you think you can, you will, but if you think you can’t, you won’t.
By believing in yourself you put yourself up for success and win half of the battle already, but by doubting your potential and thinking it is impossible, you will only end up looking for excuses for why it won’t work out.
Stop putting limiting beliefs about yourself and what you can do, and start opening up to possibilities.
Living in mindfulness is essential because without it we can never let go of our complaints and what beliefs we currently have about ourselves.
2. Believe that you are extremely lucky
Stop saying that you are unlucky. Stop saying that luck is never in your favour. Stop saying that things never work out for you.
Also, stop saying that even though things work out for you, you have to at first go through a lot of hardship and struggle in order to have something.
Instead, start believing with your whole heart that you are extremely lucky and that you have the Goddess of Good luck with you.
Start believing that things always work out for you in the easiest way.
This thinking goes in alignment with having an abundance mindset.
You no longer live in a scarcity mindset thinking that things, opportunities, and money, are scarce in this world.
To get the lucky girl syndrome you have to start believing in abundance and you have to start believing that there is plenty of room for all.
Because there really IS abundance.
You can stand out. You do have a chance. You are lucky and things always actually want to work in your favour.
Start believing in this because it’s true.
The limiting thoughts and beliefs you currently have thinking it’s not possible are what is the most far from the truth.
If you want to know more about how to create an abundance mindset and what is a lack mindset, you can listen to my podcast episode here:
3. Affirm that you are lucky and you can have it all
What is the biggest dream in your heart? What kind of life do you want to live? What kind of person do you want to become?
Write them all down without putting any limitations and without thinking ‘how’ it will come true.
You can write them down starting with, ‘I really want to have……..’
‘I really want to do……..’
‘I really want to be……….’
And next, write down your own affirmations based on what you have written down.
If you wrote down, ‘I really want to be debt free, then write down your affirmations as ‘I am going to be debt free in the coming year’
‘I will have no debt and will live a debt-free life’
‘By next year I will be living the life of my dreams‘
If you wrote down I want to be an author, your ‘affirmations should be like,
‘I am going to be an author’, ‘I will be a best-selling author’. ‘I will be writing great books in this lifetime’
You can also write down other affirmations like,
“Things are always working out for me”
“I am really lucky”
“I am strong. I am kind. I am protected”
But just writing down affirmations or listening to them is not the main thing.
The main thing is to really believe in it and feel it deep inside your heart.
Don’t worry if you don’t believe it instantly.
Start slow. Once you get rid of your negative and scarcity mindset, affirming and believing in your truest dreams start becoming easy.
4. Make a vision board
Whatever your dreams are, make a vision board for them.
I have written a post on how to make a vision board that manifests.
I have shared how you can easily create a vision board using Canva and the actual steps in how to make a vision board that manifests.
I have also shared my own vision board story.
Once you make a vision board, it is important that you keep it in a place where you can see and see it properly at least once in your day.
I keep my vision board in front of my desk and from time to time, as I am working or writing, I look at it and visualize living my vision board dreams.
I also keep my vision board in front of me while I pray.
5. Live with joyfulness and gratitude
Let go of the belief that in order to be successful you have to work a lot and you have to struggle a lot.
Of course, you have to do the work, but not till the point of burnout.
Live and work with joyfulness and make gratitude your way of life.
Here is a 21-day Gratitude Challenge I created. You can subscribe to it below
We attract good things when we have a joyful heart and when we keep ourselves in a high life state.
I always make sure that my life state is high. For this, I go for walks, exercise, read good books, meditate, pray and make time for hobbies.
I make sure that I am not always filling up my life with work and keeping nothing else.
There are so many other things that give meaning to my life apart from work- whether my actual work or blogging and my creative pursuits.
This helps me live life with joy.
Not being a person who complains, but becoming a person who gives a lot of gratitude is the most essential syndrome of the lucky girl syndrome.
My lucky girl syndrome story
Even before this lucky girl syndrome started trending, I truly believed and I do believe myself to be a lucky girl. Believe it or not, I had also thought of writing a post on ‘How to get lucky’ sometime in future.
But it wasn’t always like this. I wasn’t always like this. And I didn’t consider myself lucky at all!
10 years ago back in 2013, I had just dropped out of college, my mental health was failing, I was full of doubt and insecurities, my relationship at the time was insecure and full of drama and so was my life.
I had a negative mindset, and a severe lack of self-confidence and also I was extremely weak and thin.
However, the twist is- I decided I wouldn’t live my life this way anymore and work on myself till the time I joined college again- this time taking up a different subject.
So I had three months’ time in my hand. I could have easily let this time pass with regret and continue with my same past toxic habits and wait for when life would be steady so I could get my life together.
But I didn’t.
I myself got my life together instead of waiting for life to do it for me.
Ever since then, I have gone on track and off-track, but I have more or less remained consistent with my habits which leads me to where I am now.
My mother now says that whatever I want to have and do in my life, I get it easily.
She says it’s like I just open the door one after another giving a big dang one after another.
So let me share my lucky girl story
And yes, I won’t mind attributing my achievements to luck as well, because I really manifested them consciously.
I was and am still just an ordinary girl. I took up college again and did my graduation in Sociology and scored first class.
I completed my master’s in 2018 and became the topper of my University.
But even before I had completed my master’s, I cleared the NET (National Eligibility Test) which is an exam to qualify for Assistant Professorship in India.
I cleared that too on the first attempt. In the next attempt I secured the JRF (Junior Research Fellowship).
Like everyone else, I wanted to be financially independent and get into being an assistant professor at a good college.
In India, it means getting into a Government college, for which we have to clear the College Service Commission (CSC) Interview.
This interview has no fixed time for when it will come out.
My sister had to wait for almost 10 years because there hadn’t been any vacancies.
But in my time, the CSC interview advertisement came out just the day I completed my master’s. And because I had already cleared NET, I could apply for it.
I gave my interview along with a few seniors from my University.
The results were yet not out, and we were all desperately waiting.
I remember one time someone had asked me, ‘Do you think you’ll get through it?’
At that time, I could have easily said, “No, I don’t think so..”, “I don’t think I have a chance, there is so much competition” or “I don’t know what will happen”
But I immediately became mindful of my speech and instead said, “I want to.. I just hope for the best”
This might be small and inconsequential, but I do think that my self-talk and my self-belief also played a role in giving me luck.
Why I believe in Luck and being lucky
People think there is no such thing as luck, but only effort.
But there are far too many things we cannot control which are outside of our effort for which we have to attribute to luck.
When the results came out, my name was in the second rank and I got to choose my college in Kolkata where I am currently teaching as an Assistant Professor.
I joined work in 2019 and in 2020 I started blogging which had been a wish I had kept in my heart. This was the first I wrote: 27 years of my life so far.
My blog didn’t become successful overnight. Not even in one year.
I had no one to seek suggestions or help and no one I knew who had started blogging. But I just kept going and kept learning.
Even when I wasn’t earning even $1 from my blog, I would be so thankful to have started blogging because it was helping me write.
I just knew that it would work out even when it wasn’t working out.
I would constantly tell my mum and boyfriend, “By next year I will be earning this much from my blog”, and be so excited about it.
Then in 2021 July, my blog actually started gaining traction and in less than 6 months, my blog started crossing over 100k page views.
Of course, it required work, effort and patience on my part, but I wouldn’t have been able to work on it, put effort into it and keep my patience for so long if I didn’t have belief in myself in the first place and if I didn’t believe it would work out in the end.
So I believe I manifested what little success I have had with blogging and in my life so far by believing I am lucky, by believing things will work out, and by believing it is possible.
This year I have started my podcast- ‘Heart of Living’. I am not looking for instant gratification.
I just want to fulfil my heart’s desire and give out what I have in my heart. I am certain this too will work out. I just have to be patient, and I am patient.
You can follow my podcast on Spotify or apple podcasts here and if you like it, please don’t forget to give me a rating and a review.
So this was my lucky girl syndrome story.
There are numerous other little incidents that have made me feel incredibly lucky, but I have to stop here since I don’t want to lengthen my post too much.
You can read it in my Vision Board post.
However the question is,
Can we manifest with the lucky girl syndrome?
Yes, definitely you can. There is no other way to manifest.
If you don’t believe you are lucky and if you don’t believe you can do it, you can’t manifest anything in life.
You have to first prove it and believe yourself that you are worthy, in order for others and the Universe to believe you are worthy.
Really imagine yourself living your dream life. Imagine yourself in the picture of your vision board and see yourself walking, touching, feeling and living it.
And fill yourself up with excitement and enthusiasm.
If you have excitement and enthusiasm, the manifestation gets easier and faster.
But if you do everything else, but aren’t enthusiastic or excited about all the possibilities opening up for you and in life in general, then no matter what affirmations you say, no matter what you write, you will never manifest it.
You have to make the lucky girl syndrome your way of life.
And by making the lucky girl syndrome your way of life, I mean, these are the symptoms you need to show:
- Gratitude
- Joyfulness
- Abundance mindset
- Positive self-talk
- Belief and
- Non-attachment to results
If you have this and work on your dreams and goals, you can manifest whatever you want in life.
Everything is possible until you are alive.
You have no right to limit yourself beforehand.
The Universe is waiting for you to own up to your power and potential so it can sincerely work for you.

The best Lucky girl syndrome Video explained
I really liked this lucky girl syndrome video on Youtube. I totally agree with everything she has said here and I am so glad that manifestation and being lucky are now trending.
I believe we also need mindfulness, gratitude and peace to start trending.
Before I part, I want to end by saying that, ‘You are incredibly lucky’ because you are still alive.
If you are still being able to read this, you are already lucky.
Believe with your whole heart that you are lucky and that you have it all within you to make your dreams come true.
The outer resources you need are nothing, just a little aid that will help you achieve your goals. The inner resources are what is important. And the great news is that you already have it in you.
You already have an abundance of your inner resource which you need to truly go after your big dreams.
And that is why we are already lucky. We just have to believe in it and let it come out to the surface of our lives.
May we be able to bring it out this year!
