I believe that there are two sets of people in this world.
The first set of people are those who can’t find anything meaningful to do, to the point of feeling bored to death.
And the other set of people are those who are always burried in their to-do lists and working in one thing or the other.
This set of people are always wanting to do more thing thinking that they’re doing something productive with their time, to the point of burning out.
Even though they’re both different, what I feel is common between them is that both these two sets of people are always running at a fast pace in this life in the sense that, they always try to find ways to constantly fill up their time either with work or with netflix or in instant gratification of likes and comments in social media, and with all such things.
Both of these two sets of people are always focusing on ‘doing’ instead of ’being’.
And I must tell you, that most of us belong in either of these two categories, myself included. But I am slowly trying to recover from this pace, and allow myself to ‘just be’.
Coming back to real purpose and happiness

And the one thing that always helps me come back to myself is to remind myself, or to rather ask myself,
‘What is my real purpose here on Earth and what are the things that truly bring me happiness?’.
Sometimes I tend to forget what what my real purpose here on Earth is as I get too caught up in minor goals and to-dos, but I have to remind myself to double down on what truly brings me happiness and how I can best live my purpose and be the kind of person I wish to become.
It is a good practice.
I highly encourage you to really reflect on what you really want your true purpose here living in this Earth to be for the time you are here. (Because we really are here only for a brief amount of time in eternity).
I recently came back to this question once again as I seemed to have forgotten, and as I wrote it down in my diary, I once again got clear on what I really saw as my purpose while I am here.
And it wasn’t making more money, or finding material successes or being able to buy a home or be able to get this or that.
Ofcourse, success and having goals are important, and I do want money to enjoy life more abundantly, but the real purpose was not that, but it came down to these:
- To enjoy life deeply
- To live well with my loved ones
- To enjoy the spaciousness of time with the feeling that I have abundant me-time
- To be of use to others
- To be the highest, most loving, most compassionate, most understanding and the truest version of myself.
This is what I truly want my purpose to be. What about you?
What truly makes you happy?
And then I sat down to write about, ’What truly makes me happy’, and I found out it is these things that truly make me feel happy:
- Reading
- Enjoying space in time relaxing
- Writing in my journal in peace
- Writing for my blog from my heart
- Going for a walk
- Helping people
- Exercising
- Being kind to other people and understanding other people’s heart and things from their point of view, instead of judging them (which is so easy, and which our mind is so quick to do)
- Visiting new places and seeing new landscapes
- My time with my mother and loved ones
- My time spent with Gee~ talking with him and laughing
- My time with my dogs Bella and kiki
- My time loving animals
- Taking care of plants
- A good afternoon nap
- Meditating
- Chanting
- Praying
- Painting
- Sitting in silence
- Talking with my friends over call, text and in person
- Enjoying good food
- Having space and time to reflect and ponder
- Enjoying good content that either nourishes my mind or makes me laugh
- Creating something, and lastly,
- Knowing that I am using this life well
Writing this down helped me immensely to come back to myself and helped me remind myself of the things that I should actually prioritize to double down in my day to day life.
So even if I am not doing something actually ‘Productive’, or ‘working’ on something, but If I am just spending my time relaxing, enjoying spaciousness of time, and doing one of these above things, I will not feel guilty, but I am and will be content and happy knowing that this is happiness for me at this moment and it is what is bringing me closer to my purpose.
So, with this post, I just want you to also take a moment to reflect on what are the things that truly bring happiness to you and what are the things you’re spending your time on?
Are you doing even some of the things that bring you true happiness? And maybe, write it down if you can.
And if you haven’t found them yet, take this post as an encouragement to experiment with life and start searching for your true purpose.
However, You don’t have to search for happiness. It will just come as a by-product when you get closer and closer to living your purpose.
And I can say that even if you’re in just the periphery of your purpose, you will come to know bits and pieces of true happiness 🙂
Much Love
