Do you have a Sunday skincare routine, or do you rarely give care to your skin?
Self care isn’t simply inner care such as journaling, meditating or yoga.
Self-care is also outer care.
Our skin is the first cloth. It is the first covering of our body, protecting us from all the dust, pollution and makeup.
When there is a small cut on our skin, the wisdom of our body heals it like magic.
But we hardly give any good care to our skin.
For all of us who are working, and even those who might not, we can treat weekends like a treat for ourselves, not just for sleeping in all day or simply for doing housework.
I, for that matter, really need this reminder because I end up being busy with household chores all Sunday and end up feeling exhausted.
Now I want to spend my Sundays slowing down and give some care to my skin thoroughly.
So in this post I want to share a Sunday Skincare Routine that you and I can easily do.
Think of this as more than a beauty routine—it’s your reset button for both skin and soul.
Since I am from India, I am also adding some Indian Homemade skincare practices to help you create a nourishing Sunday Skincare Ritual.
Why Sunday is the Best Day for Skincare
Table of Contents
- You’re not rushing to get somewhere — you can take your time.
- The skin has all night to soak in the benefits.
- You can turn it into a weekly ritual that signals your body to relax.
The Ideal Time for a Sunday Skincare Routine
During the week, we rush through quick face washes and minimal care. Sundays allow us the luxury of time — to go deeper, nourish better, and give our skin and hair the attention they deserve.
The ideal time for a Sunday skincare routine depends on your goal:
- Morning (8 AM – 11 AM) — Best if you want a fresh, glowing look for the day, or if you plan to go out later. Your skin absorbs treatments well after a full night’s rest.
- Evening (7 PM – 9 PM) — Best if you want deep relaxation before bed. Your skin regenerates overnight, so treatments like oil massage, hydrating masks, and nourishing creams work extra well.
For hair oiling + face masks together, morning is often better, so you have enough time to let the oil sit and wash it off without rushing.

Step-by-Step Sunday Skincare Routine

Step 1: Set the Mood (5 min)
Light a candle, play soothing music, and tie your hair back with a soft headband. This is your spa moment—make it intentional.
Step 2: Hair Oil Massage (Optional but Highly Recommended)
Start with a warm oil massage to deeply nourish your scalp and relax your mind.
Use coconut, almond, or amla oil.
Gently massage your hair for 10–15 minutes in circular motions, then wrap it in a warm towel.
Leave it on for 1–2 hours before shampooing.
Pro Tip: Add hibiscus petals or fenugreek seeds to your oil for an extra boost of strength and shine.
Step 3. Gentle Cleanse (2–3 min)
