Many times we think that the world right now is losing its humanity. We think that the world is getting darker, bitter and full of hatred and conflicts.
And then there are our own internal struggles.
There are far too many of us suffering from depression, anxiety, trauma and all kinds of illnesses.
But one thing that really gives me hope is that the world right now is increasingly talking about improving mental health and overall well-being.
One simple and silly way I take care of my own mental health is by not taking this life too seriously and by seeing myself as just a tiny human being.
And indeed we ARE just tiny human beings in this vast big world.
We are born out of nowhere and return to nowhere.
In between this time, I believe that we are here to live freely, fully, happily, lovingly and to live full lives.
But this is not easy, because we end up caring too much, feeling too much, and thinking too much.
And even though there’s nothing wrong with feeling too much or caring too much, we need to step back a little from our mind and body and start seeing ourselves as tiny tiny human beings.
Your mind will try to justify saying that THIS IS important, THIS IS serious, that you have the right to overthink it, to care too much about it, but you have to start training yourself to see things lightly.
Take everything as a joke.
Stop taking life too seriously. Stop taking your job too seriously. Stop taking your relationships too seriously.
Also, stop taking your mind seriously.
One thing I like to do is to see things, my life happenings and myself as if from an eagle’s view.
This lets me zoom out instead of zooming in on every small thing and makes me feel that I am just a tiny human being trying to live in a way I would be happy and satisfied.
And if things don’t work out my way, it’s okay as they are just tiny tiny events in the macro scheme of things and I truly believe there is something else that is good that is in store for me as long as I don’t neglect my present.
This can be a small practice, but it really helps given how much we let little things bother us.
Anytime you find yourself feeling discouraged, helpless, hopeless or full of fear and anxiousness, step back from your body and mind, and see yourself and your problems from an eagle’s view.
Minimise the seriousness and importance and come back to the present moment.
If you aren’t going to die, if you are breathing with ease, if the ones you love and the ones who love you are well and healthy, and if your pets are happy and healthy, then take nothing else too seriously and importantly.
You can always decide to re-do your life and fulfil your dreams anyhow as long as you don’t neglect the present.
Also, taking things and life lightly will help you go through life much lightly, reach your goals with your enthusiasm intact and maintain your joyous and curious true nature for a long long time.
