Today, as I sat to meditate this morning, I suddenly felt so connected with Earth and felt immense compassion for her.
It happens to me many times, but today somehow words started flowing into my heart.
I was going to write a blog post, but somehow felt too called on to write a poem.
So I’m sharing the poem I wrote today. I wrote after maybe more than 5 years. I don’t know how it is, but just sharing my heart here.
I thought it would just be a line or two, but the words kept flowing and it took me no more than an hour to write.
Here it goes.
Meditations on Earth
Meditate on Earth.
Contemplate the Earth
Have compassion for her.
Can anything be there
Look how the trees grow
How the flowers bloom whatever we sow.
There’s magic happening all around
And it doesn’t require no sound
The wind breezing
A newborn smiling
The children growing
Can anything be there
All the buildings that stand tall,
And the builders that stand taller
Little do they know
Everything there is
has to follow Earth’s order.
how humble She is
Selflessly allowing everything there is to grow
Accepting beauty and plastic without a stir.
Magic potion that mixes with water.
The Creator’s daughter
Unconditional of a mother
Seeks no returns, no favour.
But oh! Does she give
Just so we could live ~
The mountains, the oceans, the rivers, the air
So tell me is it fair?
To receive bountiful gifts
And to not think
of even a thank you in return
What bad manners
What illiteracy of the heart
Even after being educated
We don’t know the basics of Life’s art.
That to love is to care
That to love is to heal and help unpack
That to love is to receive and help give back
So meditate on Earth.
It has a heart of its own.
Contemplate on the Earth
And have compassion sown.
And you will realize
You can’t throw trash in a home you love
You can’t dirty your tank, your house drinks from
You can’t cut your own roots, you got your breath from.
It’s not just a climate problem,
it’s also a heart problem
It’s a lack of compassion problem
It’s a lack of kindness problem
It’s a severe separation problem.
So build your heart’s bridge
To the home where you live
Namaste every morning
Bow down after your prayers
Meditate on Earth
And Uncover your layers
