Today I want to talk about a gift that most of us have forgotten to use.
This gift is an almost magical kind of gift that has been given only to us, and no one else on Earth.
Through this gift, we see what has not yet become.
We hear what has not yet been spoken.
Through this gift, we bring things into existence.
Through this gift, we attract what happens to us.
Through this gift, our beliefs are formed, and in turn, our actions are shaped.
What is this gift that no one possesses but us?
It is the gift of imagination.
No other species on Earth possesses this gift.
It is also because of this that we may be called superior beings.
Because we imagine, we can dream.
Because we imagine, we can plan.
Because we imagine, we can delight.
As children, we used this gift freely.
I don’t know about children of this generation, because kids these days are always consuming and surrounded by so much noise that they have little space for imagination, boredom and daydreaming.
And so it is for us.
As adults,
we have no time for boredom,
no time to just be,
and no time to imagine.
And in the in-between moments of our days,
when we do imagine, we imagine to overthink.
We imagine things not going our way.
We imagine the negative more than the positive.
Somehow, as humans, imagining the worst-case scenario has become our default setting.
We feel that it protects us from threat, from hurt, from sudden, unexpected bad things.
So we feel it is better to imagine the worst and then for it to not happen.
But if you are imagining the worst and hoping it won’t happen,
isn’t it just as reasonable to imagine the good in the beginning itself?
Most often, what you expect is what comes to be.
Train yourself to imagine possibilities.
If you’re overthinking, overthink the good.
Overthink things, all falling into place.
Overthink how God is always working in your favour.
Imagine ~ not forcefully.
Not desperately.
But joyfully.
How to Imagine Joyfully
Table of Contents
1. Slow down first
Sit quietly.
Take 3–5 slow breaths.
Let your body feel safe and unhurried.
2. See yourself in the picture
Don’t just imagine the future or the outcome.
Imagine yourself in the picture.
Imagine yourself holding it, feeling it, walking it.
See yourself as a verb.
3. Feel the feeling
Don’t just see the picture. Sense the feeling.
How would you feel when you are in the outcome?
Notice how your body would feel if this were already true.
Feel the feelings as if it is already in your hands.
Feel it as if you have already received it.
Put a soft half-smile on your face as you imagine.
End with a quiet thank you- for what is already on its way.
That is all.
Do this often.
Even five minutes a day is enough.
Imagine joyfully.
And stay in joyful expectation.
Notice what begins to shift and all the good that it brings to your life.

Journal Prompt of the Week
If I allowed myself to believe that more is possible for me (without knowing how)
What would I begin to imagine, want, try, or explore?

One from Others
By believing passionately in something that still does not exist, we create it. The nonexistent is whatever we have not sufficiently desired
— Franz Kafka
