Whenever my best friend and I start talking about our dogs we go on and on telling what our dogs did, describing how our dog is and we can’t stop laughing. So much of my everyday conversation with my mother centers around my two dogs. They truly fill our hearts!
I have always had dogs at our house. I cannot imagine living in a home without dogs. At present we have Bella and Kiki. We got them home in 2017.
I love watching them both and it’s wonderful to see how dogs have their own nature, their own unique doggo personalities.
As for Bella and Kiki, they are total opposites, but they both love each other even though I must say, Kiki definitely loves Bella more.

In fact, when we brought her home at around 3 months old, she had been the quietest puppy, so much so that it had been almost one month and we just hadn’t heard her voice.
She hadn’t barked, nor squeaked, nor cried at all!! Mum and I felt at one point that she might be dumb, but then one day she heard the pressure cooker whistle and the next moment she was howling and barking at the pressure cooker.
That was the first time we heard her voice, after a month and we were rejoicing- relieved she is not dumb after all!
She is friendly to strangers, loves people, and is such a good girl… but she’s also more of a cat than a dog. Even my friends say so. She never comes running, panting, and wagging her tail begging for cuddles like other dogs do unless we have come home from somewhere.
If you try to hug her and give her love, she will run away instead. She doesn’t even allow me or mum. The thing is, she doesn’t like being touched and the maximum she will allow a hug is 10-15 secs.
If our legs touch her even a bit when she is about to fall asleep, she will just jump out of bed and go to another place.
Sometimes I am like, ‘You’re too much!’.
She doesn’t let us love her like other dogs, but I know (from her actions) that she loves us deeply, she just doesn’t express it!
If I leave the room and go to another room, she silently comes, lays next to me without doing anything. She silently follows me wherever I go- to the kitchen, to the bathroom, to the balcony, everywhere I go.
If she doesn’t see me or mum, she will go searching for us all around and so we love playing hide and seek with her. When mum and I are both together, she may not come running to us, but she will be her most relaxed and calm self.
When she does want love and affection, she silently comes and sits next to us or sticks her body in our legs (like cats do) not panting, not barking, not doing anything. She will just silently come, gently wag her tail and look at us with her wanting eyes. And then we stroke her and love her until her fixed time. lol
She loves warm things- blankets, a cozy bed, and the shining sun. Even on a hot summer day, she will have to go out and sunbathe. It’s one of her daily routines- going out at her exact time- around 11 and sunbathe. Sadly, it’s rainy season now and we haven’t seen the sun in days, so she’s mostly sleeping.
She won’t eat her favorite snack if we just say, ‘No…’. She will look at us and then turn her face away from it. When she’s busy going somewhere and we call her, ‘Bella, where are you going?’ She will simply stop, change her direction and then come to us.
She also loves sleeping. At night when all the dogs bark, Bella hardly cares. To her sleep is most important and even if all the dogs in our neighborhood start barking and howling, she will be fast asleep whereas Kiki will be barking from my aunt’s place in the middle of the night.
What she doesn’t love are winters, cats, mice, birds, and flies!
So this is about Bella. Howsoever she is, it is this nature of hers that I love so much. I love her calm personality and her soothing vibe.
About Kiki
Kiki on the other hand is truly the kind of dog we all are familiar with- Happy, excited, always wanting a cuddle, always panting and wagging his tail.
He is actually my aunt’s dog, but he stays with us the entire day. When my brother brought him home, I didn’t think he would survive. He was so tiny he could fit in my one hand, and my hand itself is so tiny.
But he was so energetic and cute. He still is. A little ball of fur.
5 words that describe him would be:
- playful
- silly
- mischievous
- cuddle bug
- excited
He is the cheerful kind. He loves love and is always wanting cuddles. He doesn’t walk, he runs and whenever we just touch him, he simply turns into a ball and starts rolling.
He lovees Bella and is always after her and Bella always after us. When my aunt brings him in the morning, he straightaway runs to greet Bella first thing.
He is always wagging his tiny furry tail whenever Bella is around, trying to kiss her, snuggle with her, and always eager to play with her, but Bella most of the time, gives a damn because he keeps pestering her and is kind of like the clingy boyfriend whereas Bella is kind of like the girlfriend who wants her own space. lol.
Ever since he was a young pup he has been on a desperate attempt to have kids with Bella but sadly his height doesn’t reach Bella. haha. He’s too short for Bella who is too tall for him. Height matters!
He may be barking at someone, but his tiny tail will be constantly wagging. He’s so funny and cute!
But when he does something mischief and we scold him, instead of being guilty, he will get angry back. Whereas Bella is not like that. Bella will be filled with guilt and at such times she will try to show us her love, crave for love and affection which she doesn’t at normal times.
They are both opposites but both are so dear to my heart. I could go on and on about them, but I end it here.
So this was about my Bella and Kiki. I would love to know about your doggo’s personality. How would you describe your dog in 5 words or more? Comment below.
