When I first started my blog, I didn’t know a thing about blogging. I did set out a niche for myself and I did have a handful of blog post ideas ready in my notebook, but other than that I had no idea how to come up with new content for my blog consistently.
I read about how other bloggers recommended posting at least 2-3 times a week. I also read about how they planned content for their blog months ahead and set up their content calendar.
As for me, as a beginner blogger, I just couldn’t figure out how they could do so.
I had set up a small goal to publish 1 blog post every week, every Sunday and that too was very hard for me. Every week it was the same- I had to think hard about what I wanted to write about and only a few ideas would come. Sometimes, none.
And even after writing with so much heart, it was only my friends, family, and a few hundred others who read. I was disheartening at times.
This was because it took me a long while to understand that it is also not about coming up with just any content.
You need to have content that your audience for your specific niche wants to read. You need to generate blog post ideas and write about topics that get clicked, saved, read, and shared.
I didn’t know this at the time. I was a newbie blogger and I didn’t have a blogging strategy.
But now after more than a year of blogging, (thanks to Pinteresting strategies by Carly and Traffic transformation guide by Lena) I am finally coming to understand the tips and tricks behind blogging.
So if you’re like the ‘beginner blogger me’ and are looking for ways to find content for your blog or topics for your blog fast and easy, then these 10 tips will help you come up with 50-100 blog post ideas in just one sitting!
These are the different ways or rather steps I take to come up with content for my blog.
Let’s get started.

How to come up with blog post Ideas
1. Select your blog topic category
The first step you need to take in order to come up with blog post ideas is to first select the category you want to write about.
Your category is the things you write about in your blog. Without having specific categories your blog will become unorganized.
For my blog, I have three main categories- self-improvement, Living, and blogging. So when I want to come up with new content for my blog, I first select the category or rather subcategories I want to write about.
Pinterest is absolutely gold when it comes to finding new ideas for anything. I love Pinterest to come up with blog post ideas.
Once you select your category or a specific sub-category, go to Pinterest and search for it.
What are the results that come up?
Note them down. Look into other related boards and see their results. Note them down.
Dig deeper into Pinterest and find endless inspiration for content for your blog.
3. Blog post Ideas from Pinterest keyword research
Next, if you are a little bit more specific about what you want to write about, see if your blog post topic is searchable-that means if other people are searching for it or not.
For example, if you know you want to write about ‘How to make smoothies’ then look into Pinterest and see what Pinterest automatically suggests when you just type in ‘how to make smoo…’
All these come up.
These are what other people are searching for related to making a smoothie and you can write about those.
If you specifically type ‘how to make smoothies‘, look at the various different searches at the top with different colors.
These are all related suggestions that Pinterest gives which you can write about.
Look into each of these different categories and find further inspiration for your blog content.
Through this, you can find endless ideas just for your one blog post topic.
You can make separate blog posts using each of the different keywords or you can mix it up.
This way, just for one topic you have found many blog post ideas you can write about later so don’t forget to note them down.
4. Google keyword research to find more blog post topics
Do the same with Google search. Type in the main idea you want to write about and see what google suggests.
For ‘how to create a workout plan’ all these come up..
Once you type it, see the related searches that google comes up with and try to give answers to these in your blog post.
Also, Google gives more suggestions at the end of a page.
Click on any of those.
Dig deeper and deeper and find more blog post ideas this way.
5. Visit other blogs
When you type into Google or Pinterest about the specific category you want to write about, look into the top search results.
Visit their website and see what other posts they have or are writing about.
You can write about those too from your own perspective. It’s not stealing, it is finding ideas and inspiration. We are all building from each other.
6. Quora search: a tool to find more blog post ideas
Another great way to find ideas for blog posts is to go into Quora and search your specific topic/ category. A list of most asked questions comes up.
Look into those questions that have the greatest number of views. Then when you click on it, further related questions come up.
These are the questions people want an answer to. Find inspiration from there and you will find endless ideas and content for your blog.
7. Analyze Popular bloggers in your niche
Who are the top bloggers in your specific niche?
- Follow them by subscribing to their email newsletter
- Go into their blog and Pinterest profile.
- See what posts they have and what they are writing about.
- When they send emails look through their tips and strategies and see what posts they are linking to.
Try to what the things that are missing in your own blog or content and fill in the gap.
8. YouTube: more inspiration to find content for blog
YouTube is another great mine where you can find endless blog post topics. Search your related niche and other popular YouTubers in your niche and see what they are talking about in their videos.
Find inspiration from there and turn it into a blog post. You can find endless blog topics which you would want to write about through your own experiences and adding your own touch.
9. Google analytics
Google Analytics is another great way to refurbish your old posts. Look into your google analytics and look at your top 10 posts or top 20 posts.
Those are the posts that are already doing well, so why not just give it a little twist and write another related blog post on those posts themselves.
Come up with new ideas using google keyword research or Pinterest keyword research and you will find many new ideas for your old posts.
This is a great way to boost your traffic as well as add new blog content just by making and adding little changes.
10. Your own experiences
Lastly, don’t forget your own experiences and your own creative thinking. Blogging is about sharing your experiences and your learnings with the world.
Even though many others might have already shared about the same thing, remember that what you have been through nobody else will have because how you experience it and what you learn through it will always end up being unique.
People love to hear about human experiences and want to connect to each other. We are all craving for that. So share your heart out.
Keep an ideas list at all times in your phone or anywhere to note down any ideas whenever an idea arises. Note them down and don’t dismiss them. You can always re-think later or make changes to your original idea.
So this was it about how to find blog post ideas fast and easy.
With these 10 ways, you can easily come up with 50-100 blog posts in less time than you think and you’re all set for the next 3-4 months.
So once you do come up with all these new ideas for your blog post topics, what next?
I highly suggest that you keep all of them organized in one place so that you don’t have to do it again and again.
How to organize content for blog.
If you are a pen and paper person, then always keep a notebook of your blog post ideas. Or else you can use digital notebooks like GoodNotes or Notability.
I use ‘Notion’ to keep all my ideas in one place under different categories so that anytime I want to write a new post I can look up the different blog topics.
Here is a screenshot of my notion.
Under each of these, I have more than 25-30 blog topics I want to write about.
So this is how I am set for the next many months.
To be honest, I did this in one sitting following the above ways.
All the best to you too.
Remember, blogging is a process, a journey and you need to be patient with yourself. Allow yourself to be a beginner and also, as a beginner blogger, be okay with wasting time.
Blogging can feel overwhelming at times so remember to deliberately slow down while you’re up to with your blogging things.
